W Beam
Designed for high centre of gravity vehicle containment
W-Beam guardrail is the world’s most widely used safety barrier system. It comprises steel posts that support a w-beam rail element.
Safe vehicle containment and redirection is possible due to the flexible nature of the rail and the bending resistance of the posts.
The blocking pieces, positioned between the guardrail and posts, minimise vehicle snagging the potential for the vehicle to vault over the barrier by maintaining rail height during the initial stages of impact.
Once the guardrail separates from the posts, the rail forms a re-directive guide for the vehicle.
